The Vienna Stock Exchange will be open on tomorrow's holiday (Assumption Day). The entire infrastructure – from trading to settlement – will be available despite the Austrian public holiday. In 2019, trading was already possible on two public holidays (Ascension Day, 30 May 2019 and Corpus Christi, 20 June 2019). The Vienna Stock Exchange will also be open on All Saints' Day, 1 November.
With this measure, to increase system availability for trading members the Austrian trading venue harmonizes with EU standards. The newly introduced opportunity to trade on selected Austrian holidays is finding global demand. On Corpus Christi EUR 200 million were traded, i.e. three quarters of an average trading day. 85% of the equity turnover on the Vienna Stock Exchange originates from international trading participants.
