The Vienna Stock Exchange started the anniversary year 2021 with a a significant increase in equity turnover, continuing the previous year's trend. The leading trading platform for Austrian shares recorded equity trading volumes of EUR 6.33 billion in January. Compared to the previous year, this represents a substantial gain of 36.9% (January 2020: EUR 4.63 billion).
The most actively traded Austrian stocks were Erste Group Bank AG with EUR 785 million, ahead of OMV AG with EUR 782 million and Verbund AG with EUR 771 million.
